Castaic is a community of Santa Clarita located just north of Valencia off Interstate 5.  A fast growing community, with much new development and rapidly escalating prices, Castaic is attracting residents aged mostly between 25 and 65 who love the outdoors and the convenience of an easy commute on I-5 south into Los Angeles and the Valencia Gateway Commerce Center which is located at the Interstate 5 and highway 126 intersection.

As with most schools within the Santa Clarita area, Castaic boasts excellence in its school system and the residents are attempting to gain a High School for the area as well.

Located close to Castaic Lake, and just before climbing the mountains to Gorman and Frasier Park, the area has some of the finest recreation possible in the immediate vicinity.  The Lake consists of two separate lakes.  The large reservoir area is a V-shape with the two arms being designated for different recreational pursuits.  One for sailing, world class fishing and slow boating, the other for water skiing and fast boating with an area near the dam for jet skis. The lower lake, or Lagoon has certain areas with beaches for swimming and lakeshore fishing.  Picnic areas are available.  All within an 8,000 acre park.

The Castaic Regional Sports Complex is located on a 51 acres site which includes three softball diamonds and an additional multipurpose field. There is currently a gymnasium with indoor basketball court, community rooms and a kitchen in development as well as three outdoor basketball courts, a baseball field and a softball field.

During the winter, a quick trip north on the I-5 takes residents to Frasier Park and the snow.  Although there are no ski resorts for downhill skiing, there are plenty of places to cross country ski and just plain toboggan.  Many Santa Clarita and Los Angeles residents "play" in the snow after a good winter storm has passed!

CASTAIC NEIGHBORHOODS

Housing is generally in the form of planned tract developments.  However, Hasley Canyon is a more rural area of Castaic with custom homes on 5 acres or more.  Hasley Canyon area is fast being encroached upon as Castaic grows.  Many of the new housing tracts have homes located on larger parcels of land attractively situated in the hilly terrain and bordering Hasley Canyons larger parcels.  Some homes have views of Castaic Lake.
