Canyon Country is a community of the city of Santa Clarita, located approximately 35 miles from the center of Los Angeles but just fifteen minutes from the San Fernando Valley.  It is located off the 14 freeway going north towards Palmdale and Lancaster in the Mohave Desert. Canyon Country is one of the largest communities geographically within Santa Clarita and has approximately 55,000 residents. As the name may imply, many homes are built on hillsides with lovely views. 

Home styles vary greatly. Homes are available from Manufactured homes on leased land, to condominiums and town-homes, and single family residences.  Most single family residences are part of planned developments called tracts, the first ones being built in the 1960's(?). Prices range from the mid $100,000's to several $million.

New tracts are currently being built as the area is growing rapidly and demand for housing continues to be high at this writing. Housing affordability is slightly better in Canyon Country than in neighboring Valencia and Saugus. Larger homes are available for less cost.  In most cases, Homeowners Association Fees are either small or non existent which gives more borrowing power to home buyers.

Sand Canyon is an exclusive area of Canyon Country with mostly custom homes on acreage and is home to the championship Robinson Ranch golf course. Prices of homes on acreage can be in the millions.  Most areas are gated and many celebrities have made their homes here.  If you are a horse lover, love to live within an area of lovely oaks, and enjoy nature, this is the place to be.  Exclusive, executive home tract homes are also available, many with exceptional views. Home prices vary but are usually found above $750,000

Elementary students are served by Sulphur Springs Union School District(link to my site) and William S. Hart School District(link to my site)enrols students for Junior and Senior High School. Many schools within the districts have been honored with national Blue Ribbon Honors and with California Distinguished Schools Honors. Institutions of higher learning in Santa Clarita include College of the Canyons offering two and four year programs, California Institute of the Arts, and in the San Fernando Valley, California State University, Northridge.

Recreational activities are as varied as mentioned under Santa Clarita community(link) information page.  Additionally, you are never far from the Los Pinetos - Placerita Canyon Park for hiking and biking. Just a few miles up the 14 freeway is the community of Agua Dulce(link in site). There you will find additional hiking and picnic facilities among Vasquez Rocks and the Agua Dulce Vineyards and winery which is open for wine tasting and winery tours.  Please click here for Santa Clarita park information and map.
